Evening Service Worker

About the role

The University of British Columbia is seeking an Evening Service Worker to join its Custodial Services team on the Point Grey Campus. This position works the 3‑11 pm shift, providing cleaning, minor maintenance, and event setup support for academic and campus facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, polish, shampoo, disinfect and scrub floors, walls, fixtures, furniture and appliances.
• Operate light or heavy‑duty hand and power‑cleaning equipment as required.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment, request materials, and ensure equipment is in good condition.
• Clean interior and exterior windows, glass surfaces, shades and blinds.
• Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels and writing paper.
• Sweep sidewalks, clear snow when needed, collect garbage and waste, and empty receptacles.
• Perform minor maintenance tasks, lock and unlock exterior doors, and set up spaces for university functions, exams and ceremonies.

Required profile

• Reliability to work independently or as part of a team during evening hours.
• Ability to follow daily work assignments and instructions from supervisory staff.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning and light maintenance tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand‑held and powered cleaning equipment.
