About the role

Kelowna General Hospital is seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to join its vibrant, high‑volume Emergency Department. The role offers a blend of acute clinical care, academic involvement, and a collegial team environment in a city renowned for its four‑season lifestyle.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive emergency care to a diverse patient population, including trauma, cardiac, and complex medical cases.
• Participate in the Level 2 Trauma Centre and stroke referral pathways, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
• Collaborate with consultants and specialists on‑call, fostering a community‑hospital atmosphere.
• Engage in teaching activities for residents and medical students, including bedside teaching, simulation, and journal clubs.
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement and academic initiatives.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine (FRCPC or equivalent).
• Experience in high‑acuity emergency settings, preferably with trauma or cardiac critical care exposure.
• Strong commitment to teamwork, mentorship, and continuous learning.
• Willingness to participate in academic and teaching activities.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) proficiency.
• Experience with ECMO, ultrasound, and other point‑of‑care diagnostic tools.
• Ability to manage trauma resuscitations and complex medical emergencies.
