About the role
The Digitization Clerk supports the preservation team by converting physical documents into high‑quality digital files. Working on‑site, the clerk ensures that digitized materials meet client requests and division priorities while maintaining strict accuracy and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities
- Digitize a variety of documentary resources, preparing them for inclusion in digital collections.
- Prepare and protect source materials to optimize equipment performance and reproduction quality.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot digitization equipment to ensure consistent output.
- Process and format digitized files according to established guidelines, including PDF creation and file‑format conversion.
- Harvest digital resources from multiple platforms to support ongoing digital preservation initiatives.
- Assist library clerks with administrative tasks as needed.
Required profile
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience digitizing documentary material and using information‑management systems (e.g., library or records management systems).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with high accuracy.
- Knowledge of document digitization principles, basic imaging standards and digital file management.
Required skills
- Operation of digitization equipment (scanners, cameras, etc.).
- Creation and handling of PDF files.
- Understanding of file formats and basic imaging standards.
- Digital file management and conversion.
