Digital Payload System Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Digital Payload System Engineer to lead the design, integration and verification of high‑performance digital regenerative payloads for LEO/MEO satellite missions. The role involves close interaction with mission stakeholders, cybersecurity teams and cross‑functional subsystems to ensure payloads meet stringent performance, reliability and security requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and translate functional, performance, environmental and security requirements into detailed payload specifications and maintain bidirectional traceability.
• Define and implement the high‑level digital payload architecture, including optical ISLs, phased‑array antennas, feeder links, master reference oscillators and high‑speed data‑bus interfaces (SpaceWire, SpaceFibre, Ethernet, CAN).
• Perform performance simulations, Monte‑Carlo tolerance analyses, and develop power budgets and reliability models (FMECA, Fault Tree, FDIR).
• Produce Interface Control Documents, lead verification master planning, test‑automation setup and certification of test results.
• Mentor junior engineers, act as technical liaison with customers and external vendors, and support on‑orbit operations and anomaly investigations.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace or Physics with at least 8 years of experience on digital regenerative payloads for LEO/MEO missions.
• Proven ability to work independently, produce high‑quality technical documentation and present findings to senior leadership.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; French is a plus.

• Digital communications, SDR, DSP, DVB‑RCS/SX protocols, modulation schemes, networking (MPLS, 2G, 5G NTN).
• High‑speed data‑bus interfaces: SpaceWire, SpaceFibre, Ethernet, CAN.
• Payload architecture, requirement management, FMECA, Fault Tree, FDIR, reliability modeling.
• Confluence, JIRA, PLM environment for version control and design reviews.
