Design Assistant – Fashion (18‑month Contract)

About the role

RCL – Reitmans Canada Limited is seeking a creative and trend‑savvy Design Assistant to join its fashion design team on an 18‑month contract. You will support product development and help translate fashion trends into collections that resonate with our target customers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and document all aspects of sample management in the system.
• Create and execute design sketches.
• Assist in preparing seasonal colour cards.
• Support the development of concepts, sketches and presentations.
• Create and update collection boards.
• Prepare fabric trims, hand‑offs and follow‑ups with Global Sourcing.
• Prepare merchandising boards and design line sheets.

Required profile

• College diploma in Fashion Design.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience.
• Excellent fashion sense.
• Strong communication and analytical abilities.
• Ability to interact with multiple departments.
