Controller – Finance Leadership Role

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing player in the building products distribution sector, is seeking a hands‑on Controller to join the senior leadership team. This role offers broad exposure across finance, operations, and strategic planning in a multi‑branch environment, ideal for a commercially minded finance professional.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee full‑cycle accounting, including month‑end, year‑end, bank reconciliations, payroll and financial reporting.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, balance sheets, cash‑flow reports and operational results.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities.
• Support strategic planning and provide financial insight to senior leadership.
• Coordinate external audits and maintain strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with branch operations to drive performance and implement process improvements.
• Manage banking relationships, reporting requirements and compliance initiatives.

Required profile

• CPA designation.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership exposure.
• Experience in distribution, industrial, manufacturing or similar operational environments.
• Background in organisations with $50M–$200M annual revenue.
• Strong attention to detail, accountability and collaborative leadership style.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• ERP systems experience.

What we offer

• Base salary $130,000–$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
