College Accounting Tutor (Remote)

About the role

Join the Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform as a College Accounting Tutor and help students across the country master core accounting concepts. This fully remote position lets you set your own schedule, work from home, and earn up to $40 per hour while making a tangible impact on academic success.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑on‑one online tutoring sessions covering the accounting equation, double‑entry bookkeeping, journal entries, the accounting cycle, financial statements, bank reconciliations, payroll accounting, and internal controls.
• Explain complex topics such as debits and credits, accrual vs. cash basis accounting, and the closing process in a clear, student‑centered manner.
• Guide students through transaction analysis, T‑account posting, trial balance preparation, adjusting entries, and financial statement construction.
• Adapt lessons using practice problem sets, accounting‑software demos, and step‑by‑step worked examples.
• Utilize the AI‑powered Tutor Copilot for real‑time instructional support, lesson generation, and engagement tools.

Required profile

• Deep mastery of introductory college accounting curriculum and common student challenges.
• Ability to break down concepts, identify pain points, and tailor explanations to diverse learning styles.
• Strong communication skills with a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Flexibility to adjust instruction based on individual student needs.
