Capex Category Manager – MRO/CAPEX (French Canadian)

About the role

The Capex Category Manager will lead strategic sourcing for MRO and CAPEX categories within a large manufacturing environment. Reporting to the sourcing leadership team, the role combines deep category expertise with consulting‑style problem solving to drive cost, quality and delivery improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives across MRO and services categories, developing and executing sourcing strategies.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, finance and other cross‑functional teams to align sourcing with business goals.
• Negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships and ensure long‑term value creation.
• Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify new sourcing opportunities.
• Manage RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations and oversee tender processes.
• Facilitate internal and external governance meetings focused on savings, escalation, change management and key projects.
• Conduct plant visits, handle stakeholder escalations and build strong customer relationships.
• Identify and implement transformational initiatives that support the client’s business objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (or three years of progressive experience in lieu of each year of education).
• Minimum 9 years of relevant experience in category management, preferably in MRO, industrial services, spare parts, utilities, equipment rental, consulting or related areas.
• Proven experience in food manufacturing, large engineering, automotive or similar high‑volume environments.
• Fluent in French Canadian.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with RFI/RFP/RFQ processes and tender management.
• Proficiency with e‑sourcing platforms such as Coupa, Ariba, Xeneta and Bravo.
