Business Development Representative

About the role

Relay is a digital banking platform that helps self‑made business owners gain clarity and control over their finances. As a Business Development Representative you will own the first sales conversation, uncover prospects’ needs, and create a strong handoff to an Account Executive.

Key responsibilities

• Work a mix of inbound and outbound leads selected based on fit and buying signals.
• Lead phone conversations with small business owners and run discovery to understand how they manage their business and finances.
• Handle common objections, guide qualified prospects toward the next step, and explain Relay’s value in clear language.
• Provide Account Executives with context for a seamless handoff.
• Consistently meet activity, conversion, and meeting targets.
• Surface recurring objections, lead‑quality issues, and process gaps to improve team resources and workflows.

Required profile

• 6+ months of SDR/BDR or similar sales experience with a record of meeting or exceeding targets.
• Demonstrated ability to pursue difficult goals and take ownership of results.
• Highly coachable, seeks feedback, and applies it quickly.
• Competitive, driven, and hungry for growth in a fast‑changing environment.
• Comfortable working through ambiguous processes and helping improve them.
• Confident communicator who can ask thoughtful questions, handle objections, and simplify complex ideas.

What we offer

• Annual salary range $79,000 – $97,428 OTE, with typical starting salary $88,500 OTE.
