Band 5 Staff Nurse – Renal Dialysis Unit (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5, NMC‑registered Staff Nurse to join the Renal Dialysis Unit at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This fixed‑term, 12‑month position offers 18 hours per week across long days from Monday to Saturday, providing haemodialysis care to out‑patients in a friendly, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality nursing care to renal out‑patients undergoing haemodialysis.
• Manage tunnelled central venous catheters and perform AV fistula cannulation.
• Operate NIKKISO dialysis machines safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with the multi‑professional team to maintain a positive unit atmosphere.
• Participate in training, mentorship and continuous professional development activities.

Required profile

• NMC registration.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Evidence of continued professional development and leadership potential.
• Post‑registration qualification or equivalent clinical expertise (desirable).
• Flexibility to meet the demands of the shift pattern.

Required skills

• Tunnelled central venous catheter management.
• AV fistula cannulation.
• NIKKISO dialysis machine operation.
