Backend Engineer, Node.js/TypeScript

About the role

We are seeking a Backend Engineer with strong Node.js and TypeScript expertise to join a fully remote, fast‑scaling team building global payroll and HR infrastructure. The role involves designing, developing, and evolving backend services that support high‑volume, mission-critical workflows for millions of workers worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs and distributed systems using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Architect scalable solutions capable of handling high transaction volumes and complex workflows.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, designers and QA to deliver end‑to‑end features.
• Optimize PostgreSQL database performance, manage data modeling, migrations and queries.
• Ensure reliability through testing, debugging, monitoring and continuous code‑quality improvement.
• Contribute to technical decisions, design patterns and engineering best practices across the full SDLC.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with a backend focus.
• Proven ability to work effectively in remote, distributed teams.
• Strong communication skills and analytical mindset.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred) and serverless architectures is a plus.
