Associate Manager – Tax Advisory

About the role

McGovern Hurley’s Tax Advisory Group is seeking an Associate Manager to lead client engagements, prepare and review complex tax returns and provide strategic tax advice. The role is based in North York and operates in a hybrid model with two days on‑site each week.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver high‑impact tax engagements for private and owner‑managed clients across various industries.
• Act as a trusted advisor, offering proactive tax planning, compliance and advisory services.
• Plan, coordinate and review corporate, personal and trust tax returns with a focus on quality and efficiency.
• Conduct advanced tax research, interpret legislation and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with Tax Partners and senior leaders on complex planning and compliance projects.
• Identify, investigate and resolve tax issues, escalating technical risks when necessary.
• Mentor and coach junior team members, providing hands‑on guidance and performance feedback.
• Support business development initiatives to strengthen client relationships and grow the firm.

Required profile

• 4+ years of progressive public‑accounting tax experience, including compliance, planning, transactions and reorganizations.
• CPA designation (or in‑process) with completion or near‑completion of the CPA In‑Depth Tax Program or MTax.
• Strong technical tax expertise and a trusted‑advisor mindset.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a high‑accountability environment.
