Assistant Manager – Geering Up School Programs

About the role

The Assistant Manager for Geering Up School Programs will lead the administration, operational planning, communications and strategic direction of UBC’s flagship K‑12 outreach initiative. The role supports the university’s goal of recruiting future engineers by delivering hands‑on science, technology, engineering and mathematics experiences to children and youth across British Columbia.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with school boards and partner organisations.
• Oversee the program budget, monitor expenditures and ensure financial accountability.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for program growth and expansion.
• Coordinate the work of the Geering Up School Programs Coordinator, Quantum Programs Coordinator, student employees and volunteers.
• Lead communications and marketing activities to promote the program.
• Report to the Senior Manager, Geering Up & Outreach and contribute to the overall strategic plan.

Required profile

• Experience in program administration and operational planning.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and financial reporting.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with educational institutions.
• Leadership experience supervising staff and volunteers.
• Commitment to inclusive outreach for under‑represented groups.
