Assistant Lecturer and Lab Coordinator – Food Science

About the role

The Department of Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science seeks an Assistant Lecturer and Lab Coordinator to join the faculty on a Term 12 (12‑month) basis. The position is based on the North Campus in Edmonton and involves both teaching and laboratory management responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver instruction for at least five Food Science or Nutrition courses per academic year, following the Academic Teaching Staff Agreement guidelines.
• Oversee the operation, safety, and maintenance of food laboratories used for teaching and research.
• Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and instructional resources for scheduled courses.
• Assess student performance, grade assignments, and provide academic feedback.
• Collaborate with faculty members to develop curriculum and improve laboratory experiences.

Required profile

• Relevant academic qualifications in Food Science, Nutrition, Agricultural Science, or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the university level.
• Experience managing teaching laboratories, including safety compliance and equipment upkeep.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to student learning.
