Animation Supervisor

About the role

Framestore is seeking an Animation Supervisor to lead the animation team on a high‑profile film project in Montreal. You will ensure the animation quality aligns with the director’s vision while maintaining the studio’s standards of visual excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Manage, train, and mentor a team of animators, providing clear benchmarks and examples.
• Collaborate closely with Animation Leads to deliver story‑driven, action‑packed moments that match the film’s style and pacing.
• Oversee the overall quality of animation work and ensure it meets show milestones and deadlines.
• Work with rigging and pipeline teams to suggest improvements to character setups, rigs, and tool functionality.
• Maintain communication with Production regarding team progress and schedule adherence.
• Attend client reviews and lead daily animation reviews.

Required profile

• Thorough knowledge of Maya and a strong grasp of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
• Understanding of rigs, typical rigging setups, animation pipelines, and data transfer between tools.
• Knowledge of human and animal anatomy, life‑drawing skills, and experience working with motion‑capture data.
• Proven experience supervising or leading an animation team.
• Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, and management abilities.
• Attention to detail, problem‑solving skills, reliability, and ability to meet deadlines.
