Animal Care Assistant (B-2) – Part-time

About the role

The Animal Care Assistant (B‑2) supports daily operations on the Macdonald Campus Farm/Dairy Unit, performing feeding, milking, and animal‑husbandry tasks in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.

Key responsibilities

• Feed and milk the dairy herd according to daily schedules, ensuring animal health and milk quality.
• Clean and sanitize pens, bedding stalls, and milking equipment, and perform routine sweeping of the farm area.
• Brush and groom cows, monitor their condition, and report any health concerns to the senior technician.
• Conduct educational tours for visitors, explaining farm operations and animal care practices.
• Assist the senior technician with various tasks, including record‑keeping and equipment maintenance.
• Perform additional duties in other farm areas as directed by the Farm Manager, such as pasture management or feed preparation.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of related experience, preferably on a dairy farm.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
• English communication proficiency at level #2 (verbal and written).
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Reliable attendance for a part‑time schedule of 20 hours per week.
