Survey Assistant – Field Work in Calgary or Edmonton

About the role

Join a safety‑first company as a Survey Assistant working on field projects in Calgary or Edmonton. You will support survey crews, handle equipment, and ensure smooth daily operations while gaining hands‑on experience in the outdoors.

Key responsibilities

• Arrive on time and prepared for each shift.
• Assist with various field tasks and maintain housekeeping of tools, equipment, and materials at project sites, office, and crew vehicles.
• Support a positive, professional team atmosphere and act as a company ambassador.
• Help the Crew Chief meet project timelines and deliverables.
• Complete mandatory safety training and operate all equipment competently.
• Follow client, OH&S, and GeoVerra safety requirements without exception.
• Participate in emergency response planning, hazard assessments, job safety analyses, and daily tailgate meetings.

Required profile

• Diploma/Degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field (preferred but not required).
• Previous experience in surveying or similar outdoor work.
• Willingness and ability to travel regularly for projects.
• Readiness to respond to situations outside normal working hours.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate effectively.
• Understanding of survey methodologies is an asset.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean abstract and background check.
• First Aid, H2S, and CSTS safety training certifications are advantageous.
• Pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening.
• Capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lb regularly.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
