Software Engineer – Java/Python (Azure DevOps & Kafka)

About the role

Aviya Aerospace Systems is seeking a Software Engineer to join its engineering team in Longueuil. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining production‑grade software applications and micro‑services for aerospace and defense projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and update software applications to support new design proposals and continuous improvements.
• Monitor production system performance KPIs, investigate in‑service issues, and implement enhancements.
• Create and maintain class diagrams and design specification documents for new developments.
• Perform verification procedures, unit testing, and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with the IT department on DevOps activities and application troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience designing, developing, and supporting production‑tier software and micro‑services.
• Experience with Scrum/Agile development processes.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
• Team player with strong analytical abilities and high motivation.

Required skills

• Proficient programming in Java and Python.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and GitHub for configuration management and version control.
• Knowledge of message‑queue systems, specifically Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams.
• Familiarity with AWS serverless technologies for cloud migration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general MS Office tools.
