Sessional Lecturer – Human Capital and Education in the Economy

About the role

The Department of Economics at the University of Toronto Mississauga seeks a qualified Sessional Lecturer to teach ECO411H5S – Human Capital and Education in the Economy during the 2026 Winter term. This in‑person course explores empirical and theoretical issues in education economics, including human capital, growth, inequality, teacher incentives, early childhood education, and the racial achievement gap.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prepare, and deliver weekly lectures for a 2‑hour class.
• Develop, administer, and grade assignments, tests, and examinations, including make‑up assessments.
• Supervise teaching assistants (approximately 30 hours of support per section).
• Calculate final grades and submit them to university officials.
• Hold regular office hours and remain accessible to students for academic support.

Required profile

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mastery of economics at the university level.
• Prior experience teaching this or a closely related economics course.
• Proven ability to deliver effective online instruction in a remote setting.
• Preferred: PhD in Economics and professional experience in the finance industry.
