Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Edmonton team. You will deliver mechanical and piping design solutions across the full project lifecycle for heavy‑industrial and oil & gas projects, from early‑stage design through commissioning and start‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects
• Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables
• Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers and other mechanical systems
• Support piping design, including material selection, layout input and coordination with stress and design teams
• Prepare engineering deliverables such as datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists and construction work packages
• Review vendor documents and support procurement activities
• Provide field support, including construction assistance, commissioning and system start‑up
• Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical and project management

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required
• 10+ years of consulting engineering experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
• Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems
• Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA)
• Experience supporting projects across design, procurement, and construction phases
• Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight
