About the role
Our client, a leader in polyurethane manufacturing and distribution, is looking for a Senior Management Accountant to provide strategic financial insight and support decision‑making across multiple business entities. Reporting to the General Manager, you will drive management reporting, cost analysis, budgeting and financial planning.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reports, including variance, product‑line profitability and margin analysis.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with operations and sales leadership.
- Analyze product costing, raw‑material pricing trends and inventory valuation to guide procurement and pricing decisions.
- Monitor key performance indicators such as gross margin, operating efficiency, revenue per employee and working‑capital metrics.
- Support cash‑flow management, accounts receivable/payable monitoring and inventory turnover analysis.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses for new product launches, capital investments and expansion projects.
- Assist with intercompany accounting, consolidation and multi‑entity reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Canadian tax requirements, including GST/HST filings, corporate tax provisions and year‑end audit preparation.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors during year‑end and tax season.
- Identify and implement process improvements in financial systems, reporting workflows and internal controls.
Required profile
- CPA designation (or near completion) and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in management accounting or FP&A.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution or building‑materials environments is preferred.
Required skills
- Advanced Excel (financial modeling, pivot tables, complex formulas).
- Full‑cycle accounting in a small‑to‑mid‑size business.
- Canadian tax compliance knowledge (GST/HST, corporate tax, payroll).
- ERP/accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage or NetSuite.
- Financial modeling and scenario analysis.
