Senior Engineer – Optical Systems & C++ Development

About the role

Avanciers is seeking a Senior Engineer to join a leading client in Montreal on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on optical board bring‑up, optical control systems, and high‑performance C++ firmware development for next‑generation networking equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and validation of optical firmware and control algorithms.
• Perform board bring‑up, integration, and testing of ROADMs, amplifiers, RAMAN modules, OTDR, VOAs, and OCMs.
• Develop scalable, multi‑threaded C++ software components for real‑time optical systems.
• Collaborate closely with hardware engineers and cross‑functional teams to ensure seamless system integration.
• Support optical protection and restoration features and contribute to GX software testing.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in optical systems engineering or related fields.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with C++ and multi‑threaded system design.
• Proven track record delivering firmware for optical networking equipment.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment and communicate effectively with hardware and firmware teams.
