Raisebore Operator & Supervisor Positions – Canada

About the role

Thyssen is seeking experienced raisebore operators, supervisors, helpers, electricians and mechanics for multiple projects across British Columbia and Ontario. The role involves operating raisebore equipment on a rotational schedule, typically 14 × 14 or 20 × 10 shifts, to create vertical and inclined shafts for mining and civil engineering works.

Key responsibilities

• Operate raisebore drills to drill vertical and inclined openings, monitoring parameters and adjusting settings for optimal performance.
• Perform pilot hole drilling and ensure accurate reaming of large‑diameter shafts (up to 3 m).
• Conduct pre‑operational safety checks, adhere to mining regulations, and follow ground‑control procedures.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and report mechanical issues to maintenance teams.
• Collaborate with engineers, surveyors and supervisors, maintaining detailed logs of drilling activities.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years experience operating medium‑capacity raisebore drills.
• Proven experience with large‑diameter reaming (3 m).
• Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read layouts, charts, prints and schematics.
• Rigging certificate or equivalent rigging knowledge.
• Ontario Common Core and Raisebore Specialty Module certification.
• Willingness to travel, work rotational shifts (day/night) and adapt to project locations.
