Postal Clerk – Retail & Operations (Temporary)

About the role

Join Canada Post’s dynamic mail operations and retail environment as a Postal Clerk. This temporary, on‑call position offers a flexible schedule with the possibility to work days, evenings, overnights and weekends, providing valuable exposure to both customer‑facing and mail‑handling duties.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sales and customer‑service activities to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Operate a computer point‑of‑sale system and process cash, cheque, debit and credit transactions.
• Maintain floor displays, conduct merchandising and inventory control.
• Receive, sort, sequence, batch and review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage.
• Operate mail‑processing equipment, clear jams and transport mail between areas.
• Stand for up to 3.5 hours and handle mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items up to 15.9 kg (35 lb).

Required profile

• Experience in customer service within a retail setting.
• Sales experience is an asset.
• Experience in a production environment is an asset.

Required skills

• Ability to operate a POS computer system.
• Competence with mail‑processing equipment and basic data entry.
• Handling of financial transactions and cash management.
• Physical capability to lift, carry and stand for extended periods.
