Plant Assistant

About the role

The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking a Plant Assistant to support its Real Property Planning and Management Branch in Mississauga. You will work on‑site full‑time, providing hands‑on assistance across a range of mechanical and facilities systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist staff in electrical, plumbing, A/C refrigeration and machining/millwright trades.
• Troubleshoot and service mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, compressors, motors and HVAC units.
• Perform routine filter changes and general equipment cleaning.
• Install, remove and inspect fire extinguishers and other safety equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs including door fixes, ceiling‑tile replacement and tool maintenance.
