Pharmacist I – Hospital Pharmacy (U of A Stollery Children’s Hospital)

About the role

AHS is looking for a motivated Pharmacist I to join the pharmacy team at the University of Alberta Stollery Children’s Hospital. You will work within an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, effective, and appropriate medication use for patients.

Key responsibilities

• Review and verify medication orders, including oral, parenteral, chemotherapeutic, and topical products.
• Participate in patient care rounds and collaborate with clinical teams to develop medication management plans.
• Assess patients for medication‑related issues and contribute to comprehensive therapy optimization.
• Assist with special access, investigational drug therapies, and compounding activities.
• Mentor new staff, precept pharmacy students, and guide Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians.
• Provide coverage across day, evening, night, and weekend shifts in a 24/7 environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy.
• Experience with computerized medication order entry and drug information systems.
• Ability to work effectively in diverse teams while maintaining patient confidentiality.
• Strong critical‑thinking, time‑management, and problem‑solving abilities.
