Junior Software Engineer – Real-Time Game Streaming

About the role

DeOS is building a next‑generation interactive edge platform that delivers instant, high‑performance gaming directly in a browser. As a Junior Software Engineer you will join a fast‑learning environment focused on real‑time game streaming and help shape the core technology from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise real‑time game streaming components in C++ for low‑latency execution.
• Develop backend services and APIs with Node.js and TypeScript to manage sessions, matchmaking and streaming orchestration.
• Work on video and audio streaming pipelines, including encoding, decoding, buffering and synchronisation.
• Implement and fine‑tune network protocols such as WebRTC, UDP and TCP to ensure smooth gameplay across devices.
• Contribute to client‑side performance using TypeScript‑based applications.
• Debug latency, packet loss and performance bottlenecks in real‑time systems.
• Participate in code reviews, performance testing and continuous optimisation of the streaming stack.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics or Mathematics.
• Strong ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
• Willingness to relocate to Montreal.
• Passion for gaming or real‑time systems is a plus.
