Health Care Assistant Instructor (Part‑Time)

About the role

Discovery Community College seeks a dedicated on‑site Health Care Assistant (HCA) Instructor to guide students through classroom, laboratory, and clinical training in Langford, BC. This part‑time position supports students in gaining hands‑on experience that meets regulatory standards and prepares them for entry into the healthcare workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning in classroom, lab, and clinical settings, providing guidance and support.
• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, activities, and assessments aligned with course objectives.
• Supervise students during clinical placements, ensuring safe, ethical, and competent care practices.
• Maintain compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory guidelines, and college policies.
• Record student attendance, grades, and evaluations accurately.

Required profile

• Minimum 2,800 hours of nursing experience, including maternity, mental health, or acute care.
• Current full registration with the BCCNM as an LPN, RN, or RDPN.
• Recent experience (within two years) in a long‑term care facility in Canada.
• Strong communication and mentorship abilities.
• Ability to travel to local sites within the region.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Office 365.
• Experience using Student Information Systems (SIS).

• Part‑time schedule: Monday‑Friday, 9:00 am‑5:30 pm with variable hours.
• Hourly rate of $33‑$35 (CAD).
