Full‑Stack Software Engineer (MERN) – Canada

About the role

Join Scotiabank’s Canadian Banking Engineering team as a full‑stack Software Engineer. You will work within an Agile Scrum environment to deliver product onboarding solutions, balancing hands‑on development with sprint planning and execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain full‑stack applications using the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node).
• Write well‑designed, testable, and efficient code following best practices.
• Gather and refine specifications, create and update software documentation.
• Collaborate with the Scrum team to plan milestones, deliver software releases, and raise issues promptly.
• Participate in unit testing for both frontend and backend components.

Required profile

• 5+ years of full‑stack development experience.
• 2+ years working with the MERN stack in a professional setting.
• Experience with microservice architecture and monorepo structures.
• Proven track record in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong communication, organization, and time‑management abilities.
• Post‑secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Scrum certification is a plus.
