Food Safety & Quality Assurance Lab Supervisor

About the role

UP Vertical Farms is seeking an experienced Food Safety, Quality Assurance & Lab Supervisor to lead food safety, quality, laboratory testing and sanitation operations in a climate‑controlled indoor vertical farming facility.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all food safety programs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, CFIA).
• Manage quality assurance systems, including SKU verification, product quality, storage, and labeling throughout production, harvesting, and packaging.
• Direct laboratory testing activities and maintain accurate records of results.
• Coordinate sanitation activities and monitor hygiene standards.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety and product quality.
• Collaborate with Operations, R&D, and Grow teams and report to the Food Safety & Quality Manager.

Required profile

• Experience in food production, agriculture, manufacturing or quality assurance environments.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance and food safety standards.
• Willingness to work daytime hours with occasional evenings, weekends, holidays and on‑call duties.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate weights.
