Financial Operations & Analysis Assistant

About the role

The Department of Paediatrics at the University of British Columbia seeks a Financial Operations & Analysis Assistant to lead core financial processes and provide analytical insight. This role supports senior leaders with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting for a department handling roughly $120 million in annual activity and $32 million in research funding.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and ensure the integrity of accounts payable and receivable for operating, research, and fee‑for‑service programs.
• Develop budget inputs and execute quarterly forecasting for both UBC and PHSA portfolio sections.
• Analyze financial results, identify risks, and advise on strategic implications.
• Prepare accurate financial reports and ensure compliance with university and health authority policies.
• Collaborate with departmental administrators, faculty, UBC Finance, PHSA Finance, and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in financial planning, budgeting, and analysis within a large, complex organization.
• Strong understanding of university or health‑sector financial frameworks.
• Ability to work independently while partnering across multiple functions.
