Field Service Technician – Canada-wide Onsite Support

About the role

The Field Service Technician provides on‑site technical service and support for BFG Enterprise Services customers across Canada. You will troubleshoot connectivity, repair hardware, and ensure POS environments operate smoothly, all while delivering a professional and positive experience.

Key responsibilities

• Perform connectivity and hardware troubleshooting, repair, and Outlook setup.
• Identify and replace faulty POS components such as scanners, scales, pin pads, printers, and workstations.
• Install, fish, dress, and terminate UTP, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling.
• Deploy network infrastructure equipment (switches, routers, servers, DSL modems, wireless switches, access points, cameras, security systems).
• Prepare field reports, liaise with the Help Desk, and document all work performed.
• Travel on short notice to customer sites, work rotational shifts (including evenings and weekends) and be on standby 24/7.

Required profile

• CompTIA A+ certification.
• Minimum university degree in Information Technology or related field.
• 3‑5 years of IT field service experience, preferably with POS systems.
• Valid G‑class driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools safely.
• Willingness to work rotational shifts and travel across assigned areas.

Required skills

• POS hardware troubleshooting and repair.
• Network cabling (UTP, coaxial, fiber) installation and termination.
• Configuration of network equipment (routers, switches, servers, DSL modems, wireless devices, cameras, security systems).
• Remote management software usage.
• Proficient computer skills and solid knowledge of computer networking.
• Use of hand and power tools (e.g., drill).
