EC&I Technician – Control Systems & Instrumentation

About the role

Flogas is seeking an EC&I Technician to design, develop, install and commission control and instrumentation systems for our customers and operational depots across the UK. You will work on a variety of projects, travelling to sites nationwide to ensure reliable monitoring and control of energy processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and commission control systems and instrumentation for customer sites and Flogas depots.
• Install and fault‑find hazardous‑area electrical equipment.
• Configure and test process communication protocols such as MODBUS, Profibus and Profinet.
• Calibrate and test a wide range of instruments (pressure, level, flow, temperature – analogue and digital).
• Interpret and produce engineering documentation including Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and User Requirements Specifications (URS).
• Travel across the UK as required to support site installations and maintenance.

Required profile

• Basic understanding of PLC operation.
• Experience with installation and commissioning of hazardous‑area electrical systems.
• Knowledge of process communication protocols (MODBUS, Profibus, Profinet).
• Experience in instrument calibration and testing.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation (FDS, URS).
• Completed apprenticeship in EC&I or electrical engineering, or equivalent Level 3 NVQ (Electrical C&G2365) or Level 3 BTEC in Instrumentation and Control Engineering.
