Director of Construction

About the role

Old Oak is seeking a Director of Construction to provide senior management and operational leadership for new construction projects across Southwestern Ontario. The role oversees the full project lifecycle—from pre‑construction planning through execution, close‑out, and warranty—ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Lead construction operations for all new builds, focusing on efficiency, safety, and quality.
• Provide direction and support to Project Managers, the General Superintendent, Superintendents, and the Procurement Manager.
• Mentor project teams on planning, risk management, subcontractor coordination, documentation, and follow‑up.
• Oversee estimating, procurement, site execution, change orders, budgets, schedules, and contract decisions within approved limits.
• Coordinate project start‑up, sequencing, logistics, trade coordination, and milestone planning.
• Resolve design conflicts, scope gaps, site conditions, delays, and quality issues.
• Manage close‑out activities, deficiency correction, occupancy readiness, handover, warranty items, and lessons learned.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior construction leadership, preferably within residential or commercial new‑build environments.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop project teams and to drive performance improvements.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on practical, detail‑oriented solutions.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with internal leaders, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and municipal contacts.
• Willingness to travel for site, consultant, supplier, municipal, and project‑related visits.
