About the role
Bradken is looking for a hands‑on Design Engineer to develop, improve and customise mining equipment, focusing on crawler systems for electric rope shovels and hydraulic excavators. You will work from concept through to manufacture and field use, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing and supply‑chain teams.
Key responsibilities
- Create and update 3D models, detailed drawings and design documentation.
- Support reverse engineering, product improvements and new concept design.
- Perform analysis, simulation and technical checks to ensure safe, reliable designs.
- Work with Manufacturing and Supply Chain to verify buildability and supportability.
- Participate in field evaluations, site visits and product reviews.
- Capture product data, specifications and design changes in the PLM system.
- Provide technical input on performance, design intent and manufacturability.
- Contribute to quality, safety and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in mechanical design, product development or reliability engineering within mining, construction or heavy manufacturing.
- Ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, supply‑chain and commercial teams.
- Current driver’s licence and ability to travel locally and regionally (10‑20%).
- Full, unrestricted work authorisation in Canada.
Required skills
- Strong capability in 3D CAD (e.g., Siemens NX).
- Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS.
- Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter PLM.
- Knowledge of 3D scanning techniques.
