About the role
The Department of Economics at McGill University seeks a Course Lecturer to teach ECON 316-001 "The Underground Economy" during the Fall 2026 term. This part‑time teaching position involves delivering lectures, guiding discussions, and assessing student performance.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver two weekly lectures (Tuesday and Thursday, 08:35‑09:55) for the course duration (August 31 – December 4, 2026).
- Prepare and present course materials covering topics such as black markets, contraband trade, and money laundering.
- Assess student work, including assignments and examinations.
- Maintain office hours and provide academic support to students as needed.
Required profile
- Doctoral‑level study in Economics (completed comprehensive exams or PhD degree).
- Demonstrated high‑quality teaching ability or strong communication skills with potential for teaching excellence.
- Specialization closely aligned with the underground economy subject matter.
- Experience as a teaching assistant is considered an asset.
