Controller – Accounting & Financial Reporting Lead

About the role

The Controller leads the accounting and financial reporting function for Samuel Automation, an engineered‑to‑order, project‑based business. This hands‑on position ensures accurate, timely financial information while partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Shared Services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes and prepare financial statements.
• Perform variance analysis, percent‑complete revenue recognition, and cost tracking for projects.
• Oversee inventory accounting (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and related internal controls.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, setting performance expectations.
• Partner with operational teams to provide financial insight for project execution and profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and the creation of management dashboards and KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement of ERP (Encompix) and reporting tools (Power BI).
• Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA designation (required).
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in automation or project‑based environments.
• Proven leadership and team‑development experience.

Required skills

• CPA certification.
• Experience with Encompix ERP.
• Proficiency in Power BI for reporting and analytics.
