Assistant Controller

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join Harris’s finance team in Ottawa. The role supports the Controller and senior leadership with financial reporting, analysis, and advisory services, playing a key part in the month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely monthly financial reporting.
• Support the Controller in preparing financial analysis for strategic decision‑making and business planning.
• Perform technical accounting analyses under IFRS, including revenue recognition per IFRS 15.
• Summarize financial results for senior leadership and provide insights to divisional VPs.
• Manage the billing analyst and accounts payable team; provide guidance to senior analysts and accounts receivable.
• Review multi‑element software contracts and prepare supporting schedules.
• Coordinate audit requests and respond to queries during quarterly and year‑end audits.
• Lead ad‑hoc projects and assist with due diligence and integration of new acquisitions.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in an accounting or finance environment.
• Completed or progressing toward a CPA designation.
• Experience building and managing relationships with direct reports and internal stakeholders.
• Familiarity with the IFRS reporting framework.

Required skills

• International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) application.
• IFRS 15 revenue recognition.
• CPA qualification or candidacy.
