Staff Engineer, Cloud Engineering

About the role

EQ Bank is looking for a Staff Engineer to lead cloud engineering initiatives across its Microsoft Azure environment. The role focuses on Power Platform, Azure Cloud Engineering, AKS and DevOps enablement, and platform process improvement, reporting to the Director of Cloud Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise Azure platform components such as App Services, Functions, Key Vaults and API Management, using IaC (Terraform or Bicep) and ensuring observability with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics and Application Insights.
• Develop and maintain automation for Power Platform lifecycle management, including ALM pipelines, environment provisioning, DLP policies and licensing optimisation.
• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps) for containerised workloads on AKS, implement secure AKS architectures, and promote GitOps and DevSecOps practices.
• Lead platform‑process improvements, incident management, self‑service enablement, FinOps cost‑optimisation and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.

Required profile

• Post‑secondary education in a technology field.
• 8+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, DevOps or SRE within enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, Power Platform and Azure Kubernetes Service.
• Strong background in IaC (Terraform/Bicep), CI/CD pipelines and cloud solution architecture.
