Software Engineer II – Data Pipelines (Hybrid, Toronto)

About the role

Fivetran + dbt Labs is building data pipelines for the modern data stack. As a Software Engineer II on the databases team in Toronto, you will improve performance, reliability and add new features to our NoSQL data pipeline services, working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Write and deliver production‑grade Java code with unit and integration tests.
• Optimize existing code and architecture for high‑volume data workloads.
• Break down projects into tasks, estimate effort and collaborate via code reviews.
• Resolve customer incidents together with support and use AI coding agents to accelerate development.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in Java development and clean‑code practices.
• Experience building reliable, high‑throughput services on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Amazon DynamoDB.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex code and identify root causes.
