Senior/Staff Research Engineer – Simulation Assets & Content Systems

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team of research scientists and engineers building the content backbone of a best‑in‑class multi‑sensor simulation stack. You will design, implement, and own end‑to‑end asset pipelines that turn raw sensor logs into simulation‑ready representations.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and own asset pipelines from ingestion through validation, packaging, and serving into Waabi World.
• Design schemas, formats, and storage solutions for a heterogeneous library of meshes, neural representations, and generative‑model outputs.
• Build tooling and visualisation for researchers and artists to inspect, compare, debug, and curate tens of thousands of assets.
• Integrate cutting‑edge neural rendering and generative‑AI research into production pipelines.
• Collaborate with autonomy and safety teams to ensure asset diversity, realism, and coverage for training and evaluation.

Required profile

• Experience shipping production‑quality software at scale that other engineers rely on daily.
• Background building large‑scale 3D content pipelines, including ingestion, processing, validation, versioning, and serving.
• Familiarity with modern 3D representations such as mesh/PBR, OpenUSD, NeRF, and 3D Gaussian Splatting.
• Proven ability to design, launch, and debug GPU jobs in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or equivalent).

Required skills

• Python programming.
• C++ or Rust.
• Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and GPU batch orchestration.
• 3D asset formats and compression techniques.
• Neural rendering technologies (NeRF, 3D Gaussian Splatting).
• Version control and large‑scale data storage solutions.
