Senior Reinsurance Financial Analyst

About the role

Zurich Canada is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Financial Analyst to manage complex reinsurance transactions, ensure compliance with agreements, and support governance and analytics across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and apply proper accounting and operational procedures for complex reinsurance contracts.
• Perform calculations, recording, accounting, reporting, and settlement of complex reinsurance transactions.
• Handle medium to high‑complexity reinsurance claims and oversee activities such as commutations, retroactive accounting, and multi‑policy cessions.
• Communicate with supervisors, reinsurers, customers, and internal partners including Claims, Actuarial, and Finance.
• Develop, prepare, and review internal and external reinsurance reports, financial statements, KPIs, premium plans, and scorecards.
• Provide governance and oversight for team and vendor functions and act as a subject‑matter expert on workflow and control elements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with 6+ years of reinsurance experience, or High School Diploma with 8+ years of experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of reinsurance contracts and claim recoverable processes.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with general ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects or other query tools.
• Ability to perform complex reporting analysis using data query tools.
