Senior Manager, Hedge Accounting & Financial Operations

About the role

EQ Bank is seeking a Senior Manager to lead hedge accounting and financial operations. The role reports to the Director of Financial Reporting, Policies and Controls and works closely with Treasury, Capital Markets, Corporate Development and Securitization teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage fair‑value reporting of over $14 billion of derivatives and hedging instruments, ensuring hedge accounting eliminates P&L volatility.
• Prepare hedge accounting documentation, effectiveness testing and ensure compliance with IAS 39 and IFRS 9.
• Oversee middle‑office functions, including settlement of security transactions, coordination with traders, custodians and counterparties.
• Prepare and review general‑ledger entries, monthly reconciliations, financial statements and variance analysis for month‑, quarter‑ and year‑end reporting.
• Ensure regulatory reporting for IIROC debt transactions and maintain ICOFR documentation.

Required profile

• University or post‑graduation education in Accounting, Commerce or Business; CPA designation required.
• 10+ years of experience in financial institutions, including 3 years at an accounting firm serving financial clients.
• 1‑3 years of derivative accounting/valuation experience with strong knowledge of IFRS.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
