Satellite Electrical Propulsion System Engineer

About the role

The Satellite Electrical Propulsion (PROP) System Engineer will lead the definition, design, and verification of electric propulsion subsystems for spacecraft. This role combines system engineering, hardware design, and integration support for launch and on‑orbit operations.

Key responsibilities

• Translate mission ΔV, thrust, lifetime and reliability goals into detailed EP system requirements and interface control documents.
• Perform power, thermal and mass budget analyses and produce trade‑off matrices for thruster, PPU and propellant hardware.
• Lead mechanical and electrical design of thruster mounting, thermal control, power‑processing units and propellant feed systems.
• Develop plume models, reliability predictions and support hardware‑in‑the‑loop and thrust‑stand testing.
• Define command and telemetry interfaces, work with flight‑software teams on thrust‑profile generation and FDIR algorithms.
• Coordinate with external vendors, manage ICDs, and mentor junior engineers throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Physics or related field with 8+ years of EP engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of electric thruster families, propellant storage and feed‑system design.
• Hands‑on experience in system integration, testing and troubleshooting of spacecraft propulsion hardware.
• Proficiency with Confluence and JIRA for requirements and project tracking.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; French is a plus.
