Property Accountant

About the role

Jennings Real Estate Corporation is seeking a Property Accountant to manage the full accounting cycle for its portfolio of commercial properties in Ottawa. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will collaborate with property management, leasing, projects and development teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute full‑cycle accounting for a diverse set of commercial properties, including month‑end close, journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and manage bank reconciliations.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts, ensuring accurate classification of transactions.
• Handle HST remittances, rent roll updates, and respond to tenant accounting inquiries.
• Participate in the annual budgeting process and deliver rental statements for the upcoming year.
• Complete year‑end operating cost reconciliations and support special projects as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in property management or real‑estate environments.
• Degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the full accounting cycle with strong attention to detail.
• Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Yardi property‑management software (preferred).
