Principal Solutions Engineer

About the role

Enerflex Water Solutions is looking for a seasoned Principal Solutions Engineer to lead technical growth of its global Water Solutions business. The role works closely with Sales and Business Development to shape opportunities, define technical requirements, and deliver optimized process concepts.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conceptual process designs for produced water and oil treatment systems, covering three‑phase separation to treated oil and water meeting specifications.
• Perform process modelling, heat and mass balance calculations, and preliminary equipment sizing using Aspen HYSYS and other tools.
• Evaluate and select appropriate treatment technologies such as hydrocyclones, flotation, and multi‑stage filtration.
• Collaborate with Sales to translate customer needs into fit‑for‑purpose technical solutions and compelling bids.
• Prepare process flow diagrams, conceptual layouts, and high‑level equipment lists for proposals and internal reviews.
• Provide technical sales support through presentations, clarification responses, and client workshops.
• Work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Proposals, and Project Delivery to ensure designs are scalable and executable.
• Support commercial model evaluation, risk assessment, and alignment with profitability targets.

Required profile

• University degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (or equivalent).
• Senior‑level experience designing produced water and oil treatment processes in the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is a plus.
• Proven track record developing conceptual designs and budgetary estimates for water treatment systems.
• Strong communication, presentation, and proposal‑writing abilities.
• Familiarity with EPC, DBOOM, and modular equipment supply business models.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Aspen HYSYS and related process simulation tools.
• Process modelling, heat and mass balance calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
