Planning Manager

About the role

The Planning Manager will lead the divisional merchandise planning and inventory management function for a leading luxury retailer. Reporting to senior leadership, you will partner with buying, merchandising and store teams to develop multi‑dimensional plans that maximise full‑price sales, profit and inventory productivity. This is an 18‑month contract based in Toronto.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain divisional merchandise plans aligned with corporate strategy and profit targets.
• Collaborate with buying and store teams to translate corporate direction into actionable forecasts and open‑to‑buy allocations.
• Drive in‑season performance through re‑forecasting cycles, demand‑forecast models and auto‑replenishment initiatives.
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve inventory turnover, full‑price sell‑through and markdown effectiveness.
• Lead a team of planners and allocation analysts, ensuring clear communication of plans and cross‑functional requirements.
• Prepare and present regular performance, forecast and markdown analyses to senior stakeholders.
• Manage promotional and event forecasting, providing recommendations to align inventory with marketing activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience in retail merchandise planning, forecasting and inventory management.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret sales data and translate insights into actionable plans.
• Leadership experience managing a team of planners or analysts.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with buying, merchandising and store partners.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, fashion‑focused environment.
