Payload System Software Integration Engineer

About the role

The Software Integration Engineer will be the technical focal point for planning and executing software integration of payload systems. Working with digital processing, embedded control, test automation and ground‑segment teams, you will ensure that all software components meet system‑level requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the integration strategy and schedule across multiple subsystems.
• Verify compatibility of software interfaces between digital payload units, system controllers and test equipment.
• Lead integration and test campaigns in lab environments and later at system‑level payload testing.
• Drive verification and validation (V&V) activities, ensuring traceability to requirements.
• Coordinate with systems engineering to align software behavior with functional and performance expectations.
• Review development plans, ICDs, test reports and release notes for completeness and compliance.
• Identify integration risks early and support troubleshooting of system‑level software issues.
• Foster collaboration across software, hardware and systems teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of software development and integration experience, preferably in aerospace or telecommunications.
• Proven ability to lead integration activities in complex, distributed systems.
• Understanding of digital telecommunications payloads, SDR and digital beamforming architectures.
• Familiarity with embedded software, real‑time operating systems, FPGA interfaces and communication protocols.
• Hands‑on experience with test automation, CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, Python, MATLAB and Docker.
• Eligibility to work in Canada and ability to obtain required security clearance.
