Onboarding Risk Analyst

About the role

Relay’s Onboarding team is the front door for small‑business owners applying for a digital banking account. As an Onboarding Risk Analyst you will review new business applications, perform compliance and fraud checks, and make approve or decline decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct end‑to‑end reviews of applications, including KYC/KYB, document verification and fraud analysis.
• Make approve/decline calls, document decisions and case notes for compliance review.
• Identify synthetic identities, mismatched business profiles and fraudulent documents.
• Suggest improvements to onboarding rules, flag false‑positive triggers and work with Risk Strategy to refine controls.
• Balance fraud prevention with customer experience, using AI tools to investigate faster.

Required profile

• Recent graduate or early‑career professional with strong judgment on incomplete information.
• High agency problem‑solver who proposes and drives solutions without waiting.
• Comfortable working repetitive queue tasks while generating improvement ideas.
• Proactive user of AI tools and able to demonstrate concrete AI‑driven results.
• Toronto‑based, able to work hybrid on either Wednesday–Sunday or Monday–Friday 1‑9 pm ET schedule.

Required skills

• SQL proficiency for independent data queries.
• Familiarity with KYC/KYB compliance processes.
• Experience with document verification and fraud detection techniques.
