Junior Accountant – Accounts Payable (12‑month contract)

About the role

The Accounts Payable Clerk / Junior Accountant will support the Finance team by processing financial transactions accurately and on time. This is a 12‑month contract position based in Toronto, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities

• Create and process Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) following company procedures.
• Process supplier invoices, credit notes, and employee expense claims, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
• Prepare and execute electronic bank payments, administer corporate bank accounts, and maintain authorized signatories.
• Liaise with employees, suppliers, project teams, and managers to resolve PO, invoice, payment, and expense queries.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation in line with record‑retention policies.
• Prepare account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and assist with journal entries for month‑end and year‑end close.
• Prepare and file GST/HST returns and support other statutory filings and government remittances.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry.
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Familiarity with company financial policies, Delegation of Authority, and compliance requirements.
• Proactive in following up on approvals and outstanding documentation.
